13 December 2025 - Long Term Mentorship
My mentor helped me immensely with building a positive mindset and building self confidence. She has been available throughout and supported me immensely with questions and problems I've had. I am very grateful for this program for matching me with my mentor, it really had a super positive impact on my life!
by Anonymous24 October 2025 - Long Term Mentorship
The WCC mentorship programme has been a turning point in my career journey, and Rajani has been instrumental in that transformation. Coming from 10 years of experience in engineering services in project management support and data analysis (mainly in Excel), I was not from a software development background. After taking a career break to focus on family, my confidence took a dip. Although I completed MS Power BI and PSM1 certifications and began learning Python and SQL, I was not very clear on how to progress and improve my programming skills in the right way. Rajani first worked with me to understand my aspirations and challenges. She helped me recognise that many of the personal challenges I perceived were rooted in self-limiting beliefs. She guided me to shift my mindset, build supportive habits, and approach my goals with clarity and confidence. She has a rare gift for getting to the root of a problem with just a few words. A single question from her during our first call completely reframed how I viewed my self-worth after a long break. It was a true breakthrough moment. Along with mindset evolution, Rajani provided clear direction in rebuilding my tech foundation. She guided me on strengthening programming and SQL skills through consistent practice, revisiting core CS and DSA concepts, and using resources like LeetCode and CS50 effectively. She also encouraged me to invest in personal branding and networking, both online and in person, to increase visibility with recruiters and the tech community. Her mentorship extended into hands-on Agile experience as well. She helped me deepen my understanding of Agile and Scrum, shared practical ways to apply these frameworks, and even gave me the opportunity to practice Scrum in her startup, VisionAriser, which significantly boosted my confidence and leadership skills. Rajani has changed the way I see myself, how I respond to challenges, and how I approach both life and career. Her blend of empathy, sharp insight, and actionable guidance makes her a powerful mentor who truly accelerates growth. I am deeply grateful to Rajani and to WCC for creating such an empowering space. This community helped me believe that returning to work was not only possible, but that I could excel and build a meaningful career ahead.

Ramona Gawarwala
Software Engineer II, Discovery Education
: London
: I started my career in healthcare, but six years ago, I made the switch to software development after completing a bootcamp. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Since then, I’ve worked as a Software Developer, continuously learning and growing, and now I’m on my way to becoming a Senior Engineer with a strong interest in cybersecurity and software architecture. I love solving complex problems, building secure and scalable applications, and finding ways to improve systems. I thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy sharing what I learn, and always look for ways to make tech more efficient and accessible. To further develop my skills, I completed the Mid-Level Accelerator course with Code First Girls, and I’m currently enrolled in a GenAI bootcamp to understand both the landscape and boundaries of Generative AI. Through this, I’m learning how to critically think, troubleshoot, and build real-world GenAI workloads. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in my tech journey is the power of mentorship and networking—especially as a woman in tech. Early on, I realized that even if we don’t always see many women around us at work, we are not alone. There is a whole community of women who have gone through the same challenges, faced impostor syndrome, and needed support to stay motivated. Seeing this has made me passionate about encouraging more women not just to enter tech, but to stay in the field, find meaning in their work, and recognize the immense value they bring to the table. Outside of work, I’m into hiking, photography, and getting lost in a good book. I also explore topics like digital transformation, organizational psychology, and the intersection of tech and human behavior—it’s fascinating how technology shapes the way we work and interact. My journey into tech was anything but traditional, and I know how challenging (and rewarding) career changes can be. That’s why I love connecting with others who are navigating similar paths and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

My session with Mr Wilson was deeply impactful both personally and professionally. He helped me realize that I don’t need to overwhelm myself trying to figure everything out at once especially with something as broad and deep as front-end development and JavaScript. Instead, he emphasized the importance of pacing myself, building momentum through small, consistent efforts. That really shifted my mindset. He also challenged me to think beyond just attending bootcamps and ticking boxes. It’s not just about showing up it’s about what I do after. He encouraged me to find an accountability partner, someone who can support me when I get stuck or feel unmotivated. That simple suggestion made the journey feel more human and less isolating. Overall, Wilson’s guidance gave me a clearer structure and deeper confidence to grow intentionally, not just professionally, but personally in how I handle procrastination, discipline, and self-worth as I build my career. He was very comfortable speaking with.

Sam is an exceptionally strong mentor who consistently comes well prepared and takes her role very seriously. She is highly responsible, always supportive, and equally focused on guiding me in the right direction. I have learned massively from her about best practices in software engineering, soft skills and effective communication. I could not have been more happy in choosing a mentor. Thank you to the Women Coding Community, and especially to Sam, for being the support I was looking for during my first year in tech.

Samuela has given me new useful ideas on learning how to code, this includes how to effectively use chat gpt, to learn and apply the desired code rather than just memorising it. This is something I worried about but she reassured me that this can be used as an efficient tool.
by Anonymous31 July 2025 - Ad-Hoc
Samuela was not only thoughtful and caring but also very honest and insightful throughout the session. I was able to learn more about what it's like to work in start up/scale up companies based on her experience and how would I be able to stand out among other candidates by letting me know what and how to highlight my experience on my CV. Also, it was nice to share some worries as a woman in tech and hear really good advice and suggestions that would make a huge difference to my mindset and mental health. Overall, it was a comfortable yet therapeutic session and I really enjoyed it.

Samuela was very kind and well prepared for our session. She made it much clearer for me what I should focus on now while job searching and offered valuable, practical advice that made me feel more focused and confident. 18 December 2025 - Long Term Mentorship
This is the second year in which Adriana is my mentor. When I look back in time, I cannot imagine a better mentor nor a better path to take than this one with the community. With my mentor I have been able to learn and to build my skills and confidence; I have been heard and valued. I have felt safe and motivated to reach my goals (and set the goals :-) ). I am very happy while I write this and I treasure many unforgettable moments from my mentorship programme. This year I have also started to work and it was a very smooth start due to the valuable experience I have gained while collaborating on the development of the new community platform with Adriana and other amazing engineers. Now I look forward to a life-long friendship with my mentor and my wish is also to be as much as possible active in the community.

Their patience and understanding was vital. They created a safe space for me to express my thoughts and fears and helped me try to find solutions. Adriana Zencke Zimmermann is my long-term mentor in the Women Coding Community. From our first session, Adriana left an immensely positive impression on me. With an honest and compassionate approach to a person, she generously shares her knowledge and experiences, she is positively oriented with a problem solving attitude, she listens attentively and shows genuine interest in my life situation and aspirations. I have also immediately noticed her exceptional organizational skills, for which I admired her even more. During the mentorship, Adriana has helped me in so many ways, improving my technical skills as well as my soft skills, including communication, organization, and presentation. She has helped me gain the confidence I need and has encouraged me to pursue my goals by introducing just the right amount of new tasks and ideas. We also always have time to share life stories and support each other with ideas for improving work-life balance. Through Adriana’s mentorship, I have strengthened my expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and API design, which feels fantastic. She guides me through tasks, helps me understand complex parts, and enables me to advance more quickly. I am grateful that she has invited me to collaborate with the WCC team, implementing a new community web platform. Collaborating with others, attending stand-up meetings, and engaging in pair programming have greatly boosted my confidence. My hope is to contribute to future mentorship efforts and help other newcomers grow within the community, just as Adriana has done for me. As I have got to know Adriana, I have seen how much heart she puts into the community and people in general. She sees the best in us, she is eager to help, to solve problems and moves us forward. I respect her deeply, and during our conversations, I am always motivated to keep moving forward, take action, and see myself in a positive light. The community of wonderful people who generously volunteer their time to help others enter or return to the tech industry, gain knowledge they need, boost their self-esteem and find jobs is like a magic itself and a testament to the greatness of human beings. Thank you Adriana and Women Coding Community!

Adriana is a sensitive, warm, and funny person. She’s the kind of person who asks questions that open your mind and encourage self-reflection, which aligns perfectly with the kind of person I am. She’s always trying to be helpful and offer any kind of support. We’ve navigated many challenges together, such as different time zones, languages, and cultural backgrounds, and I feel our connection has only grown stronger over time. In our sessions, we discuss technical matters as well as topics related to work culture, building confidence in your thoughts and ideas, sharing them with your superiors and team, and preventing burnout. I’m grateful to have e-met Adriana during this stage of my learning journey.
